Why now?
Recent quality problems with COVID-19 diagnostic tests highlight the difficulty of quality management and regulatory compliance in health sciences. This is being further complicated with voluntary and mandated remote work and social distancing that impact traditional collaboration and normal company operations.
In addition, with the spread of COVID-19, the FDA has announced off-site audits for the first time as a way to continue to work with companies while mitigating infection risks. Unfortunately, many companies are not ready to perform off-site audits or work remotely with their current quality management systems.
